Some Colbear/Marchant family photos

With the amount of relocations in my life, I have precious few family photos from my youth in Laindon, and of the few I did have, most have succombed to water damage in transit. However, I did manage to find a couple of family members, plus one of Laindon High Road, but it must date to well before my era, as I don't recognise where it was taken.

This is of my grandmother Daisy Colbear with me as a baby.

This is of Marge Marchant, my aunt and one of her twins, Mary.

This is Mary Marchant and me - I don't think I was impressed with sharing the doll.

A very interesting photograph.  I think this is a few yards north of the Laindon Hotel.  I can see a ‘Shell’ sign on the far left which was probably Toomeys.  Therefore the road on the left is most probably Aston Road and the shops on the left are those between Aston Road and Somerset Road.

Thelma, no, I don't think that it was the same Marchant family at Noak Hill.

Funnily enough, when my grandmother's bungalow was compulsorily  purchased, she moved, along with my father to the erstwhile White bungalow in Berry Lane, where she stayed until she was too ill and was admitted to a hospice.

She passed away there in early 1991. My father stayed there for a while, but then moved to a small sheltered place near his sister Pam on the King Edward Estate.

Jean, how lovely, I can see your grandmother as she walked around the side of your bungalow.  She always gave a wave as I went along.  I married 1951 and moved to Billericay but still visited family in Laindon, Joan White in Berry Lane. she married one of the Marchant boy twins from Noak Hill way were they a relative of yours?
