LAINDON GROUP HOPE TO PLAY AT THE LONDON PALLADIUM
‘First they started playing ‘rock’ music among themselves – then at parties – next came youth clubs – now they have a booking with a well known London nightclub – their target – to play at the London Palladium. That’s Basildon top instrumental group, the ‘Fabulous Strangers’.
The group included vocals by Frank Martin, who lived in Nightingale Ave., Langdon Hills, pupil of Laindon High Road School and a member of the Langdon Players. – Lead guitarist ‘Bob’ V Hurley also from Langdon Hills – Base guitar, Pat Love from Rectory Road, Basildon – Rhythm guitarist Colin ‘Cag’ Carter from South Benfleet and finally Jimmy Stelling on drums.
Questions :
- Who remembers them?
- Did they make the London Palladium?
- Did they play at the Laindon Youth Centre?
- Did they produce a record?
- Any of them still living in the area?
