Final phase of development by Bellway at Radford Park Laindon

Public Consultation event held at James Hornsby School on Saturday 11 June

By Ian Mott

Bellway held a Public Exhibition indicating the location of their final phase of the Radford Park Development. The area involved is bounded by the Existing development on the area known as Archer Field, the A127, Bourne Avenue and Fords Dunton Research Centre.
The new development is intended to provide an additional 400 plus homes and will involve the provision of an additional road link from the Dunton interchange with the A127.

The meeting was arrange to allow the local residents to express their views on what they would like to see in the development.
The exhibition was open between 10:00am and 1:30pm, while in attendance at the exhibition there were only a small number of visitors.

This could have been due to the residents of Bourne Avenue not having received the notification letter sent out by Connect Communications for Bellway. I only found out when my daughter who lives in Powell Road informed me that they had received a letter.

Bellway and Connect Communications were made aware of this oversight!

The details of the development have not yet been released and we await the next stage of the planning process, but we can expect that it will be on the lines of the first two phases of theRadford Park Development.

The initial name for the site is Dunton Fields even though it will not be fields and is not in Dunton.

The Dunton Fields housing is now well under way but I note on the latest plans that the road layout has provisions for further expansion. I also hear rumours that the future of the Fords research facility is under discussion.  We await future developments.

I note from the Echo of Thursday the 8/11/2012 that only two people objected to the new "Dunton Fields" development. I don't know where the Council got their figures from but they bear no relationship to the feelings expressed at the two displays laid on by the promotion company for Bellway at James Hornsby School last year.

I can only put it down to the company using the same highly paid member of the team who sent the letters for the first meeting to 400 homes most of whom were not effected by, or really interested in, the development.

If you objected I suggest you Contact councillor John Dornan who is fighting on your behalf.
