I think No 12, may be referring to the girl standing behind you Patsy – her face is only partly visible and out of focus. You are No. 5 on Page 1.
No. 12 is me Patsy Roper – the left side of my face 🙂
With all the correspondence regarding Jennifer Haberfield my curiosity became aroused, as I didn’t recall the name yet thought I should have. So I trawled through the 1958 school photo searching for her name to be able to look at her photograph. When I did find it I was quite surprised to realise that I did recognise her. What a shame that she was taken far too early, it must have devastated the family and all who knew her. As I recall she was a quiet, unassuming and rather pretty girl. Many, many years too late, but I am sorry to learn of her very unfortunate demise.
No. 9 is Zelda Koppit.
Hi. No. 36 is Margaret Sammons, now Margaret Reid and lives in Kirriemuir Scotland.
Hi to Margaret Reid (Sammons). Could you let us know please the name of your teacher in that year 1958, you may have been in my class. Thanks, Richard.
No 17 is Janet Benson
No. 35 is Margaret Cousins (her dad managed Buckinghams the Butchers) No. 37 is Pauline Buckingham and No. 39 definitely is June Leach.
No. 50. Eileen White?

I think Pat Kavanagh is the correct spelling for no.54 she had the thickest blonde hair you could imagine. In my class for the first year only.
Nice to see Carol Hudson on here. Such a long time ago I recall Carol working in the Basildon Co-op was it the shoe section, after we all left LHR school, or just Saturdays, maybe you’ll put me straight. Funny how things stick in the memory. Its so good when people like Carol suddenly appear on this website, part of its magic!!
I think number 59 on page 2 is Carol Hutchings or Hutchingson??
Hi Nina, yes it is my mum. I have asked my auntie Pam. She was very tall 6ft. I remember her telling me stories of when she used to play netball. I think she liked it alot.
Hi Lora-Jane. Jean Robertson and I were in the same class at LHR between 1957 and 1960. She was the daughter of James and Joan Robertson who, according to the 1949 electoral register, lived at 167 Worthing Road. I remember Jean was quite tall, with dark hair and played ‘defence’ in the netball team. Best wishes.
Hi Lora Jean, yes I think I can confirm that is mum didn’t notice before because part of her face is covered. Your nan and grandads house was in fact the little shop down the unmade bit of Worthing Road “Robertson’s”, there must be loads of plotlanders that remember them.
Your mum and I were good pals after we left school your mum was a very beautiful girl, very tall should have been a model but then you know that. Your dad is also, if you don’t mind me saying, was a very popular Laindon bike crowd member many photos appear of him on this site. I will let you name him if you so wish. It’s so nice to know of you after all these years.
Hi, can someone please confirm if No 6 (Jean Robertson) is the daughter of shop keepers Jim and Joan Robertson. If she is then she is my mum!
Ann, a very sad update on one of the girls from my Upper 2A class, I had no idea that Jennifer Haberfield died at 15. Apologies if others knew about this already. She was a bright little girl, her picture above says all that, bless.
28=Brenda Gray

Hello No.38 is Kathleen Andrews. Really enjoying the photos, you are doing a fantastic job on here. One mistake I made earlier was missing the 1 off 51 which made no.5 instead, Oh well that was sorted, so I’ll keep looking for more. Well done to everyone on here, sometimes it must seem a daunting task for you all, back to searching so bye for now.
Editor: It does at times get very hectic but it is nice seeing the old community spirit coming back.

Hi Ken, not sure no 39 is June Smith. The June Smith I knew, who was my neighbour in Noak Hill Road, and I am sure went to LHR a few years before me was quite blonde.
HY David, it was just a guess, i’m sure her name was June something, just noticed Andreas comment about her name being Leach, now that sounds about right, put her down as June Leach Ian.
Had a bit of a think, 39 could be June Smith and i’m certain 33 is Christine Hooker not number 13.
Editor: That was my error Ken Christine should never have been 13.
Hello Nina, No.51 is Pam Atkins. I know because she lent me a copy of the photo and she pointed us out on it. You have Carol Hircock as no. 2 but she is no.3 No.2 is Edna Latchford (my best friend long ago)
Yep the top row is correct. It was very difficult to make out the numbers when they were a darker colour. It is easier now the numbers are in white. There are also some re-arrangements in the numbering on the boys sections. I recognised number 51 here. I believe she used to live in Bourne Avenue at one time. I thought her name was Sandra – thank you for putting me right. Overall we are not doing too badly, even with some difficulty over the numbers. Best wishes.
No. 51. Sandra?
Could number 39 be June Leach?
No. 15 is Christine Honess, the eye and cheek next to her is Christine Boniface, these two were joined at the hip throughout their school days inseperable, wonder what they are doing now.
