2012 Fuchsia Show

An enjoyable show with a very special visitor

On Sunday 22 July Patsy and I manned the Archive display at the 2012 Fuchsia show. The day started slowly but we were lucky to have a visit from Charlie Clarks grandaughter Lisa Marshall. Lisa was the torch bearer on the first leg of the relay from Lowestoft on 5 July and came dressed in her track suit and with the Olympic torch. She proudly showed us the torch and told us about her proud moments at the event. She also had many discussions and photographs taken with the visitors at the Fuchsia show.

Lisa who is studying psychology at Bournemouth University lives in Laindon and was nominated by her mum for her fortitude and courage throughout her life.

The number of visitors increased as the day went on and there was quite a lot of interest in the Archive display. We were however only a side show to the usual colourful display of Fuchsias.  We thank Charlie Clark for the opportunity of providing our Archive display at the show.
