Coffee Morning WI Hall Saturday 18th May 2013

Tea, biscuits and memories.

A very pleasant morning was spent at the W.I. Hall in Samuel Road on Saturday 18th May. Coffee and cake, tea and biscuits were enjoyed by a small friendly crowd.

Old photographs of Langdon Hills were watched on the screen, while the refreshments were being served. Some left their tables to get a closer view. Then a walk around the boards which had been assembled on and below the stage. The photographs were studied carefully and many memories were jogged. The merchandise table was popular and a few postcards were ‘snapped up’.

After happily discussing the display and the memories they evoked, several people went back for a second ‘cuppa’. Later, one lady said to me “I love looking at the old photos. They will be on display again sometime, won’t they?” I assured her they will.

It’s good that an old building like the W.I. Hall (originally made from WW1 army huts) is still being used today for community events.  Long may it continue.
